Andros AGE: 28 SHORT BIO: Andros unexpectedly became the final member of the Karovian Astro rangers at the young age of fourteen. As the youngest member of the team, he felt very weak and useless at first. The legends speaking of the rangers always made the color of red seem like the strongest – the leader, but Andros felt like anything but. How could he possibly live up to that kind of expectation? He was grateful that Zhane – a year older and his best friend practically since birth – was also a member of the team. It took a little while but the team of Kayden, Gina, Cheyenne, Khyler, and Zhane did all they could to make him feel comfortable. Kayden was the oldest, and took on the responsibility of being leader until Andros felt more comfortable with the team. Andros was extremely grateful for that. He grew close to the entire team, and they essentially became his best friends. They were a fun loving bunch; very good natured and free spirited. The guys often teased Khyler about his growing crush on Cheyenne. Andros found out later that Gina, who was two years older than him, had crushed on him.
Still, he didn't have much time with his new teammates and friends. For with the Nexonian war had begun reaching whole new levels of agony and despair, and they were called in for assistance. The battle raged on, but to no avail. At last, the King made his final request of the rangers, asking him to take his twin daughters, who were three at the time, to safety. They obeyed this wish, deciding that the best way to go about their departure was to split up, creating decoys for Devone and his minions to follow – The idea was Andros'. Kayden made the decision that one child would go with Andros, the other with Zhane. Andros and Zhane were the two youngest rangers, and also the fastest on the galaxy gliders. He figured that if Devone suspected them at all, he would be the first target. So the divided as Andros had planned, heading for Earth. The little girls were placed in mini space gliders for protection – both pre-programmed for the destination of Earth. However, this plan failed miserably. Devone had somehow figured out their plan and ambushed them all... Gina, Kayden, Khyler, and Cheyenne didn't make it through the attacks. Andros and Zhane were saved only because of a combination of their agility and the fact that they were the protectors of the real children. Kayden had been right: Andros and Zhane had been least suspected, but after the other four were attacked first, they were the only two remaining options. The other rangers had bought them some time and distance, but it wasn't enough. They were attacked and the gliders were damaged. Both boys lost control of the objects, being preoccupied with staying alive and distracting their attackers, causing both gliders to sail away aimlessly into space, never to be seen again by either boy. Andros and Zhane fought valiantly against their attackers, but the ambushers turned their sights to the now escaping gliders. Andros and Zhane stalled them for as long as they could, but they were no match for the strong Nexonians. Though both gliders were now out of sight, their destinations now unknown, Andros and Zhane refused to give up on the search. They wanted more than anything to find the two girls before Devone's minions, but their search was in vain. Nothing more was ever heard of the two toddlers and, sadly, both were presumed dead. Andros and Zhane managed to escape with their lives. Later, they discovered the lifeless bodies of their teammates.
It's an image that has never left Andros. He and Zhane carried their friends back to their mega ship evading Devone's attacks skillfully. They took their morphers, placing them in a secret room aboard the ship, before returning their bodies to their families back home on KO-35. The two boys were different from there on out. Their friends had been murdered, and Andros couldn't shake his feeling of guilt. He couldn't help but to wonder if things would have been different if they had stuck together like Khyler and Cheyenne had suggested.
Things got worse for the red ranger when Zhane was critically injured in a battle on KO-35. He was hurt so badly that Andros was forced to freeze his body in a cryogenic tube, desperately hoping that he would one day be healed and wake up from his coma. The red ranger removed himself from society. He had suffered so much loss in his life. His sister was still missing from his early childhood, his friends were dead, his best friend was in a coma, and despite his efforts to fight evil, his planet was invaded and overtaken, forcing the Karovians to scatter throughout the universe, leaving the planet deserted and abandoned. The red ranger had the weight of the world on his shoulders. He was no longer fun loving and good natured... innocent as he had once been. He'd suffered to much. Pain now filled his once sparkling eyes.
Even though the side of evil was still at large, Andros never once began searching for new rangers to replace that of his old team. Mostly, he was scared – scared to get close to anyone. It seemed like anyone he touched died or left him in some way. He couldn't take that; not again. So he alienated himself, making his duty as a ranger his number one priority. He became very cold and numb, so unlike the young boy he had once been. That is, until the former Earth rangers barged into his life. He was twenty-one by that time.
It was odd, the way they seemed to move him; especially the yellow ranger called Ashley. She seemed to thaw the ice that had consumed him. It was slow progress, but he forgot how good it felt to have human interaction. He missed it. He had been so consumed with his mission to fight against evil that he had forgotten about his own needs. Being with other people seemed to relax him; his new team was very much like his old one, as much as he hated to admit. He didn't want to let them in; he tried not to with all his might, but he couldn't help it. Their naiveté annoyed him at times, but they seemed sincere enough. They believed in his – their – mission. That was enough for him. They seemed to get under his skin, and somehow they started to drag the person that he used to be back to the surface. It was a nice change... sort of like he didn't have to carry the weight on his own anymore, but share it with his new friends.
His year with Carlos, TJ, Cassie, and Ashley turned out to be one of the best that he'd had in a very long time. He fell in love with Ashley, and for some odd reason he couldn't explain, she loved him too. That alone made him feel like he could take on anything. He'd never been so nervous to ask a girl out in his entire life... he had never gotten so jealous in his entire life either. Seeing the girl he loved flirt with his best friend killed him. Yep, by some miracle, Zhane had awoken, and to top it all off, Karone was found. Oddly enough, the two had connected on a romantic level – Zhane and Karone. At first Andros was upset by the thought of Zhane making out with his baby sister, but the more he thought about it – the more Ashley talked to him about it – the more he began to see that there couldn't be anyone better for his sister than his best friend. While his sister had only returned to the side of good for a short time, he wasn't about to give up on her.
The final battle with Astronoma was an emotional one. The rangers fought with everything they had, but it wasn't enough. Andros knew what had to be done. He said goodbye to Ashley. She had cried and it killed him, but it was something that had to be done; he knew that. Fighting his sister, and then having to kill Zordon... it tore him up inside. He didn't know what he would have done if he didn't have Ashley and his friends to lean on this time. They eased his pain.
It wasn't a hard decision to make; moving to Earth with Ashley. His home was with her, and he told her that. The fame that followed the revelation of their identities amazed him. In no time at all he was being dragged onto every television program across the nation, people were asking him to write a tell-all, and then the book signings that followed. It was crazy. Their efforts to stay out of the media and keep their lives private were ignored. Their refusal to take money for their appearances were also ignored. Andros soon had so much money he didn't know what to do with himself; he hated taking money but it was beyond his control as it somehow kept appearing in a bank account he never created. Even though his private life had been completely invaded, his Karovian roots were left out of the media, thankfully. He didn't even want to think of the damage that would have been done if it were discovered that he was from another planet. The chaos that would have followed would have been a nightmare.
Soon after their return to Earth, and after their short visit to Terra-Venture to help the Galaxy rangers defeat the newly constructed Psycho Rangers, Andros had proposed to Ashley and the two were married in the fall with Cassie as the Maid of Honor and Zhane as Best man, sealing their bond forever. Andros had never been so happy in his entire life. Zhane and Karone were making strides with their relationship as well, which Andros was happy to see. Even he had to admit that their chemistry was undeniable. He, like Ashley, wasn't at all surprised to see TJ and Cassie start dating as Carlos found love elsewhere. He could only wish them the best of luck in the future, hoping for them to be as happy as he was with Ashley.
However, marriage nor the media, did not interrupt their missions. Andros and the other former Astro rangers continued to help rebuild what KO-35 had lost so long ago, and they continued to patrol the galaxies for signs of evil doings. They just couldn't escape it, and truth to be told, he wouldn't have it any other way. They felt that it was their duty to try and repair the damage that Astronoma had done on not only Earth, but other planets as well (Karone felt particularly bad and worked her hardest to set things right, particularly on Earth). With the death of Zordon, Earth was more vulnerable now than ever, and it was their responsibility to keep the Earth safe. They couldn't and wouldn't forget that.
After what seemed like an entire lifetime, Ashley and Andros were finally able to settle down and hang up their morphers, focusing on their lives together, though Andros often went on solo missions, tracking any reading of evil that may pose a potential threat to the Earth. He'd even went so far as to go on one final mission in which he recruited former red ranger Tommy Oliver to help. From there, every red ranger to date had joined them, minus Rocky Desantos, who had been rather ill at the time. Still, his wife and family was his priority now. He loved how Ashley cringed when looking at their bank accounts. So did he, they hadn't asked for any of that, and he felt like they didn't deserve it either. But it was his wife's idea to buy the old Juice Bar which was about to be put out of business. He readily agreed, glad that they could put some of their money to use and towards a good cause. Adelle had agreed to help run the place until Ashley and Andros completed school (which they insisted on paying for despite the numerous offers of a full scholarship due to name recognition and free promotion of the chosen schools) with their degrees in business. They both put their all into their schooling, pushing themselves year long, completing college after only two years. It was harder on Andros than it was for Ashley. He had never went to an Earth school. He felt very lucky that Ashley was such a good student, and that she could help him get through the work. They learned very different things on KO-35. Andros was twenty-four when they graduated, though he began learning how to run the place when he was twenty-two – that was when he and Ashley first bought the place.
Running the Juice Bar brought in many different kids. Ashley got particularly attached to eleven-year-old Casey Daniels, her younger, ten-year-old sister, Hannah, and their friends Jake (12), Eric (13), and Nate (9) Thomas. He didn't mind the kids, not really. Jake was the only one that pushed his buttons. It was Casey that he grew closest through – she was the one Ashley seemed to get along with the best. Casey often stayed after hours, sometimes with Hannah, to help he and Ashley out. Especially after the Thomas's moved away.
Even today, six years after Astronoma reverted back to Karone – six years after Ashley and Andros helped to rid the world of evil – they continue to protect KO-35 on an on-call basis. Little did they know, it wouldn't stop there. Andros and Ashley have proved to be valuable allies to the fusion rangers, helping out anyway they can, whenever they can. They first met the rangers when Alpha and Zelta called upon them to teach both Casey and Conner telekinesis, and they've been helping out ever since. Mostly, they help out by giving the rangers knowledge of the people and planets of the universe – things that they have learned on their missions as rangers. Ashley likes to help, but its mostly Andros who the rangers come to for help. Born on another planet, he has grown up around different customs and peoples of the universe. He had traveled the galaxy more, therefore he knows more. However, he finds it difficult to put up with the current blue ranger, Jake, who Andros is convinced has vowed to make his life miserable by annoying him to death. Deep down, he doesn't really mind it all that much. He was surprised to see the boy that used to dance around on tables at the Juice Bar as a power ranger, but he couldn't deny that the kid had heart. He still teases and jokes around with the boy as he had years ago before he moved. But still, no kid should ever be that hyper all the time. It really gets on Andros nerves at times. However, he fears that he had better get used to it, having a son himself in the very near future.
